All About 2025's DRAW-A-THON

The DRAW-A-THON came back in Kingston on Saturday, August 2nd from 10 am — 10 pm! Just like in previous years, the DRAW space at 22 Iwo Jima Lane was available to draw all over, from the walls to the floor. Attendees were able to enjoy cosmic chaos as we embraced a space theme with retro-futuristic flair. MKAD’s Youth Workforce was hard at work preparing the event and crafting every unique prop and decoration before the event came to fruition.

Every year, we construct a tall “machine” that can produce a drawing at the press of a button called the DRAW-A-TRON! The DRAW-A-THON’s leading manager, Maizy Milliken, created the DRAW-A-TRON in line with the theming of the event. Here’s what she had to say about it during the construction process:

My inspiration this year came from a lot of 1960s retro-perspective future kinds of things. I was looking at the robot from Lost in Space and Conky from Peewee’s Playhouse, they were my two biggest inspirations this years. I’m playing with all those fun shapes, and that’s where this all came from.

Below are images of the machine in-progress:

We hope you’ll come join us for the next DRAW-A-THON in August 2026 and got to enjoy the final product of Maizy’s DRAW-A-TRON! If you missed the event and want to get a good look at the finished props and DRAW-A-TRON, check out the other pictures below!
