At The Department of Regional Art Workers, we believe that a strong art education significantly enhances the character, economic growth, and quality of life in a neighborhood.

PUGG (a.k.a. Pop-Up Gallery Group) is a paid, after-school work-study program providing job training in art/non-profit management, arts education, leadership, and entrepreneurship for Kingston High School students and recent alumni. PUGG students create exhibition spaces for Kingston High School alumni and area artists, keeping local artists engaged and supported. They assist teaching artists at The D.R.A.W. in arts education programming for kids, peers, and adults and act as ambassadors for The D.R.A.W. in collaborative projects with community partners and neighboring organizations. PUGG takes on projects to support The D.R.A.W. and its community of artists including public art projects, curating and installing exhibitions in The D.R.A.W.’s gallery space, fundraising efforts, print projects, and beyond.

PUGG meets as a group, weekly, in The D.R.A.W.’s studio space in Energy Square located at 20 Cedar Street in Midtown Kingston, NY. PUGG students receive direct mentorship from The Department of Regional Art Workers Education Director and Founder, retired KHS art teacher Lara Giordano and P.U.G.G Advisor, artist Beth Humphrey.

PUGG students can earn a 0.5 KHS internship credit and then they can apply for paid work-study.

PUGG meets and excepts new members on a rolling basis throughout the year.

PUGG Members are selected by application only. PUGG is a tuition-free, paid work-study program.
