DRAWING: with Stephan Lewis
The purpose of this class is to explore the physical act of ‘drawing”, from its most basic, as a form of mark making, to a more complete language that explores and imagines perceptual space and volume.
As a class, we will primarily be working from “life”, with the acknowledged supposition that; what can be observed of the real world is far more complex and unexpected than what can be imagined. A good artist is a good observer.
I will be working directly with individual students to improve their own natural abilities and try to open for them new avenues of perception, in regards to the medium. Each class will begin with a brief lecture that will touch on salient points that I feel will be of interest to the class based on the work that is being completed.
